Welcome to Badgers- Reception class!

Welcome to our class page. Here you will find information about your child's learning journey throughout their time in Badgers, and any events that will be taking place.

Your child will be exposed to learning in all 7 areas of the curriculum: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. Topics are changed every half term and are based around child interests.

Home Learning.

The Children can access home learning by visiting some web sites we use in the classroom.  For number work they can use TopMarks Education.  This site uses interactive games for number, shape and patterns.  It will also direct you to other sites for additional educational games. The children can also log onto Purple Mash.  Each child will have a personal login supplied by the school.

Hello!  This term we will be learning all sorts of exciting things.  Our topics are What makes me Marvellous?  Plus, What do we celebrate?

The topics will enable your child to explore things about themselves and find out what they like to do.  We will be reading lots of books and singing, so if you can continue to read with your child at bedtime or when you have time that would be wonderful.  Please encourage your child to look at books, they may not be able to read the words yet, but they can tell you about the pictures and what they see on each the page.  The books we will be looking at in depth are;

This explores the feelings of separating from Mommy.

We will be talking about celebrations.  These next months have lots of things to celebrate;

Autumn and our harvest

Bonfire Night

and Christmas.

We will be starting our Maths learning journey by focusing on making number bonds to 5 and 10. Children will also develop their confidence in number recognition, counting, matching quantities and forming their numbers using different media.

Things to remember:

  • We will be sending out words for your child to learn. Please support them the best you can learning these by look, say and cover. You can also write the words down for them to read.
  •   If you have any concerns please talk to us.  I know it is difficult at this time and the usual methods  of communication are not been used, but we will always listen and then try to act upon your  concerns. Please help us to keep you and your children safe, remember washing hands, wear a mask in enclosed spaces and keep your distance from each other.

Thank you for your continued support!
