Black History Month
We celebrated Black History Month at Sacred Heart with a week of different activities across the school. Please see below a slide show of some of the amazing work that was produced.
We used the BHM strapline as inspiration for our sessions: -
This was a chance for us to explore what Black History Month is and why it is celebrated.
Each year group looked at a significant black person from either the present day or from history. We looked at people from across the world, and even some very local, well-known celebrities!
This was an important time for us to reflect on the person we studied and the impact they have had on society. It was also a time for us to reflect on our own perceptions and attitudes towards each other.
Many teachers have said how much they and the children enjoyed the week, and how much they all learned.
Thank you to those parents who supported their children in learning about Black History Month. It really made a difference to their understanding and appreciation of it!
