Sacred Heart Primary School was delighted to welcome Madam Mayor for an inspiring visit as part of our journey toward achieving the prestigious Gold Rights Respecting Award. The day began with a whole-school assembly, where students learned about their right to be heard and taken seriously, linked to Article 12 of the UNICEF Rights of the Child. Madam Mayor engaged with our Steering Group, a team of student representatives, to discuss key local issues such as parking, littering, and canal safety—concerns identified by the children themselves. Discussions also touched on Article 24, the right to a safe and clean environment. The visit empowered our students to see the impact of their voices and reinforced the school’s commitment to the UNICEF Rights of the Child. It was a memorable day filled with learning, collaboration, and the promise of positive change for our local community.
