Spring 1

Our focus story for this half term is the Hodgeheg by our author of the month Dick King-Smith.

We are going to be writing a non-chronological report on Hedgehogs.

To do this, we need to:

- Identify and use the features of a non-chronological report.

- Gather facts and information on hedgehogs.

- Write expanded noun phrases.

- Use technical vocabulary in statement sentences.

- Compose and write a question.

Autumn 2

We are focusing on the story Rapunzel by Bethan Woolvin. Our focus is on describing settings and characters in our writing.

To do this we will:

- Use expanded noun phrases to describe.

- Construct similes to create a vivid image in the reader’s mind, helping to engage and absorb them.

- Use co-ordinating conjunctions (and, but, so)

- Use an exclamation mark.

Once we have used these skills to describe the setting and character, we will encapsulate what we want to say, sentence by sentence to write a narrative.
