Music
Orchestral Instruments (Theme: Western Stories)
Children are introduced to the instruments of the orchestra and practice identifying these within a piece of music. The different pieces of music will be from traditional Western stories, such as The Snow Queen, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk!
They learn how different characters can be represented by timbre (the tone or sound quality from different instruments), how emotions can be represented by pitch (how high or low a sound is) and how changes in tempo (the speed of music) can convey action.
