National Justice Museum
As part of our Crime and Punishment topic, Year 5 visited the National Justice Museum in Nottingham to extend our learning beyond the classroom. The children were greeted by costumed characters, including the Georgian Jailer, in the historic Georgian Goal before exploring cells and dungeons dating back to the Saxon period. The children re-enacted Emmeline Pankhurst’s infamous trial in the Victorian court house taking on the roles of the judge, prosecution and defence barristers, clerks, ushers and the jury. The children came away enthused and more knowledgeable about how the law and justice have changed over the ages.
