Guided Reading

In guided reading, we are reading The Flower by John Light. It is about a little boy called Brigg. When Brigg discovers a book in the library labelled 'Do Not Read',  he cannot resist taking it home. It leads him to an unexpected discovery, which brings brightness and beauty to his world.

Home Reading

Reading books will be changed daily. Please can reading books and journals come back into school daily. When reading with your children, please ask questions about their book, what they liked or disliked about the book and write a comment about their reading in their journal to let us know how they are getting on.

Reading is matched by their phonic knowledge. Children should be reading around 90% of the words fluently and find 10% of them challenging.

Story Time

Every day at 3pm your child will have a story read to them in class. Story time is an integral part of the school day and it is a time we all enjoy. Because of this, we would like to invite any parents/carers into story time each and every Wednesday at 3pm where you can join your child in class and listen to stories being read.

DEAR

DEAR stands for Drop Everything And Read. It is a time set aside each Friday in the class for both children and teachers to...drop everything and read. Children can read a book of their choice to enjoy and then discuss at the end of the session.
