Welcome to Robins Class Page!
Welcome to the Robins class page. On here you will find out about important dates and our learning journey for the year.
We are currently using Google classroom due to lockdown. Each day we have live lessons in the morning for Phonics, English and Maths. These begin at 9 am everyday. The afternoons are creative curriculum based, History, Art, Design and Technology, R.E and Computing. Each day assignments are given to the children for them to complete at home and return to the class so their skills will continue to develop.
As Historians, we will be learning about the life of Christopher Columbus.
We will identify who Christopher Columbus is, why he is a significant person, how his actions change the way we do things today and recall interesting facts from his sea voyage.
As Scientists, we will be learning about animals including humans.
To do this, we will:
- identify and name a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
- identify and name a variety of common animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.
- learning about our bodies and how we grow and change over time.
- learn how our senses operate and why we need them.
We will be looking at different religions and their belief systems. The children will learn about moral codes of conduct and explore the 'BIG Questions' that they may have.
Healthy Minds, Healthy ME.
Especially in todays world the children need to know they can talk about and explore their feelings. We have planned lessons each week so the children have this space to talk freely and express their concerns or worries.
As a whole school we have adopted 'Read, Write Inc.' This gives the children the best possible start for their reading and writing skills. It is a structured approach to teach the skills needed to access the world of books.
You can use web pages as a good place to find Phonic games that encourage the children to sort words and practice their sounds.
https://wwwtopmarks.co.uk This site will also provide interactive maths games.
It is important that you read to your child. Please take sometime to read with them as much as possible.
Please can reading books and reading journals come to school every day. When reading with your child, ask questions about their book, ask what they liked about the book and write a comment in their journal to let us know how they are getting on.

Homework and spellings are given out on Wednesday and are due in on Monday. Please work together to complete the homework and practice spellings. Children will be tested on their spellings on a Tuesday.
In Robins class, P.E is on Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure P.E. kits are in school every day as lesson times might change.
We have outdoor P.E. You must ensure you have your outdoor P.E. kit for this day. Kit includes a plain shirt that is your team's colour, shorts/tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
