We kick started our Vikings topic with a jam-packed day of activities all about the Vikings. The class were given Viking names, we read Viking sagas, learnt about the Viking Gods and took part in an archaeological dig to uncover artefacts.
During the morning, we were interrupted by a rival tribe (Beech class) who raided our classroom and tried to take hostages, however we bravely fought them off and did not surrender. We got our own back during lunchtime when Beech were on lunch by ransacking their classroom and taking precious items.
The penultimate activities were competing in games of strength and strategy against the rival tribe. We all learnt how to play the traditional Viking board game, Hnefatafl and Nine Men's Morris. Once our minds had been tested, it was time to test our physical strength. It was Sycamore vs Beech in the annual Viking games. We played toga honk, found out who the fastest runners were and competed in a spear throwing event.
We are delighted to announce that Sycamore won the Viking Games 2021.
