Rail Safety with Manny Kang

We had the pleasure of welcoming Manny Kang into school. While many of the children recognised Manny for his fantastic fundraising work, he also has an important role at Network Rail, where he supports safety education across the country. As part of this role, Manny visits schools to speak to children about the importance of rail safety – and that was the focus of his visit today. Through an engaging and informative session, our pupils learned about the potential dangers around railway lines, how to behave safely near train tracks and stations, and why it is so important to be aware of their surroundings when travelling.

Manny’s visit supported several rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), including Article 6, which ensures every child has the right to life and to be kept safe; Article 19, which protects children from all forms of harm; and Article 24, which gives every child the right to access information that helps them stay safe and healthy. The session was a brilliant opportunity to empower our children with knowledge that could one day save lives.

We were also excited to share that we were hoping to work with Manny again in the next academic year to take part in some exciting fundraising initiatives – watch this space!
