End-of-Year Expectations
At Sacred Heart Primary School, our mathematics curriculum is carefully sequenced from EYFS through to Year 6 to ensure clear progression and continuity in learning. The end-of-year expectations for each year group outline the key knowledge and skills pupils are expected to secure, building strong foundations in number, calculation, reasoning and problem-solving. From early number sense in EYFS to more complex concepts in upper Key Stage 2, pupils are supported to develop fluency, think mathematically, and apply their learning across a range of contexts. These expectations ensure that all pupils are well-prepared for the next stage of their education, with opportunities for challenge and deeper learning embedded throughout.
