British Science Week 2025

Celebrating British Science Week – The Right to Learn and Discover!

This week, our school has been filled with excitement as we celebrated British Science Week! From our youngest learners to our eldest scientists, everyone has been engaging in hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and discovery.

Our EYFS and KS1 pupils have begun their butterfly-growing journey, carefully observing the life cycle of caterpillars as they transform into butterflies.

Meanwhile, Year 2 and Year 4 became Wizards of STEM, using their scientific and technological skills to create magical light-up wands!

Some of our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils had the fantastic opportunity to visit Q3 Academy’s science laboratories, where they worked with specialist equipment and experienced science in a secondary school setting.

Back at school, our Year 6 pupils took on the role of teachers, planning and delivering engaging science lessons to KS1. This links to Article 28 and Article 29 of the UNCRC, which highlight every child’s right to education and the right to develop their talents and abilities. It also supports UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Outcome 7 and Outcome 8, which focus on ensuring that children’s education nurtures their individual talents and empowers them to take an active role in their learning and school community.

The week concluded with a fantastic Science Exhibition, where pupils had the opportunity to showcase their investigations and discoveries. Well done to all our young scientists for their enthusiasm and hard work—keep questioning, exploring, and developing your passion for science!
