Multiplication/ TT RockStars
Multiplication is a fundamental skill in maths because it underpins so many other areas, from division and fractions to problem-solving and real-life calculations like money or measurements. In Year 4, children take the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), a short online assessment designed to ensure they can quickly recall all times tables up to 12×12. Being confident with multiplication helps children feel more confident across the whole maths curriculum. One fun and effective way to practise at home is TT Rockstars, an engaging online game where children can improve their speed and accuracy with times tables while earning rewards and competing in challenges. Regular practice with tools like TT Rockstars makes learning multiplication enjoyable and helps prepare children not only for the Year 4 test but also supports their success throughout their school life.

Information for parents:
What is TT Rockstars?
It is a carefully sequenced programme of times tables practice which can be accessed online. Each week, teachers will set a times table to learn and practise at home using the TT Rockstars website/ app.
What are its aims?
There is only one aim - to boost times tables recall
What are the benefits of Times Table Rock Stars?
- Incorrect answers are always immediately corrected in front of the pupil so that they start to associate the correct answer to every question.
- The clever code behind the scenes works out which times table facts each pupil is consistently taking longer to answer and then it gradually starts to present these facts more frequently until pupils have mastered them.
- The programme will also ask related division questions 20% of the time in order to reinforce the relationship between division and multiplication.
- It makes learning the times tables fun!
