This week, as part of UK Parliament Week, our newly elected Pupil Parliament, along with our Head Boy and Head Girl, had the exciting opportunity to meet with our local MP, Antonio. The children asked thoughtful questions and raised important issues that matter to them and our community, including the flooding outside school, the need for more bins to tackle littering, and ongoing concerns about parking. Antonio shared insights into her role as an MP and took detailed notes about the children’s concerns—fingers crossed we see some positive action as a result!

This visit strongly reflects our commitment to promoting Children’s Rights, particularly Article 12: the right of every child to express their views and be taken seriously, and Article 13: the right to seek, receive and share information. It also supports the teaching of British Values, including Democracy, Individual Liberty, and Mutual Respect. By engaging directly with their Member of Parliament, our pupils experienced first-hand how democratic processes work and how their voices can contribute to real change within the community.

The children were articulate, confident and an absolute credit to the school—so much so that all of them have earned 5 Dojos! Photographs from the visit have been saved and will be shared shortly.
