Parliament Week 2025

As part of UK Parliament Week, our newly elected Pupil Parliament, along with our Head Boy and Head Girl, had the exciting opportunity to meet with our local MP, Antonio. The children asked thoughtful questions and raised important issues that mattered to them and our community, including the flooding outside school, the need for more bins to tackle littering, and ongoing concerns about parking. Antonio shared insights into his role as an MP and took detailed notes about the children’s concerns—fingers crossed we saw some positive action as a result!

This visit strongly reflected our commitment to promoting Children’s Rights, particularly Article 12: the right of every child to express their views and be taken seriously, and Article 13: the right to seek, receive and share information. It also supported the teaching of British Values, including Democracy, Individual Liberty, and Mutual Respect. By engaging directly with their Member of Parliament, our pupils experienced first-hand how democratic processes work and how their voices could contribute to real change within the community.

The children were articulate, confident and an absolute credit to the school; they demonstrated Courage, Resilience, Independence and Communication skills.

RESULT!
